THE ABRUZZO TOUR
The Giro 2027 takes us to Abruzzo, a remarkable region where the blue Adriatic Sea meets the dramatic mountains of the Apennines. Starting in Roseto degli Abruzzi, our journey reveals ever-changing scenery: from the coast to the foothills of Gran Sasso, from historic cities to the striking natural landscapes of the Maiella mountains. Four stages bring together the joy of cycling, the discovery of new places and the friendship that makes every edition of our Giro special.
Friday, June 4 – Arrival in Roseto degli Abruzzi
The Giro begins as participants arrive in Roseto degli Abruzzi, a welcoming seaside town on the Adriatic coast. The day is dedicated to travelling, checking into the hotel and reconnecting with fellow riders. The seafront and relaxed coastal atmosphere provide the perfect setting to unwind and prepare for the following day’s start.
Stage 1 – Saturday, June 5: Roseto degli Abruzzi – Isola del Gran Sasso
We leave the sea behind and head towards the majestic Gran Sasso massif. The scenery gradually changes as coastal views give way to rolling hills, villages and mountain panoramas. Our destination is Isola del Gran Sasso, at the foot of the mountains, in an area where nature, local traditions and spirituality come together. It is our first taste of Abruzzo’s authentic character.
Stage 2 – Sunday, June 6: Isola del Gran Sasso – L’Aquila
The second stage takes us deeper into the mountainous heart of Abruzzo, with wide horizons and the peaks of the Apennines shaping the landscape. We head for L’Aquila, a city with a powerful history and a rich artistic heritage. Its squares, churches and historic buildings also tell a story of resilience and renewal – an inspiring destination after a day in the saddle.
Stage 3 – Monday, June 7: L’Aquila – Caramanico Terme
From L’Aquila, our journey continues towards the Maiella mountains, through a landscape of valleys, high ground and villages surrounded by nature. Our destination is Caramanico Terme, a historic spa town on the edge of Maiella National Park. Its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful mountain setting invite us to slow down, recharge and enjoy Abruzzo’s warm hospitality.
Stage 4 – Tuesday, June 8: Caramanico Terme – Roseto degli Abruzzi
The final stage takes us from the mountains back towards the Adriatic Sea, completing our journey across Abruzzo. The landscape gradually opens towards the coast until we return to Roseto degli Abruzzi, where it all began. It is time to share memories from four days of riding and celebrate another memorable experience of sport, discovery and friendship.
