THE TOUR OF ALSACE

The Giro 2026 explores another European gem: Alsace, a region nestled between the Rhine River and the Vosges Mountains, straddling France and Germany. This route weaves through vineyard-covered plains, storybook villages, and challenging climbs in forested hills. It’s a journey that blends nature, culture, and gastronomy in a postcard-perfect landscape that transforms at every turn. An immersive experience in the heart of the most authentic Europe.

Wednesday, June 17 – Arrival of the first participants in Neuenburg / Optional overnight stay in Auggen

For some, the Giro begins on Wednesday evening, June 17, with early arrivals from further afield choosing to spend the night in Auggen — a peaceful wine village surrounded by vineyards, ideal for relaxing before the start.
The official meeting point for all participants is on the morning of Thursday, June 18, at the Sport und Freizeitzentrum in Neuenburg, where cars can be parked before the first stage begins. From here, the 2026 edition of the Giro officially sets off.

Stage 1 – Thursday, June 18: Neuenburg – Colmar

The first stage leads into the heart of Alsace’s wine country. The route winds through rolling hills, colorful villages, and endless vineyards scented with wildflowers.
Colmar is the jewel at the end of the day: a charming historic town with half-timbered houses, romantic canals, and a fairy-tale atmosphere. Strolling through Petite Venise, time seems to slow down. A true immersion into the Alsatian soul.

Stage 2 – Friday, June 19: Colmar – La Bresse / Gérardmer

This stage shifts pace and scenery: from vineyards to forests and the slopes of the Vosges. The road climbs through beech and fir woods in a crescendo of green and tranquility.
La Bresse, a renowned mountain retreat, welcomes riders with fresh air and stunning views. Perfect for nature lovers, the area is rich in trails, streams, and alpine lakes—like Gérardmer, a sapphire-blue gem hidden among the trees.

Stage 3 – Saturday, June 20: La Bresse / Gérardmer – Belfort

A series of climbs and descents through some of eastern France’s most captivating landscapes leads to Belfort, crossing the southern Vosges.
Belfort impresses with its massive fortress, the famous Lion carved into the rock, and a lively, history-filled town center. A city shaped by centuries of resilience, it now stands as a symbol of culture and hospitality.

Stage 4 – Sunday, June 21: Belfort – Neuenburg am Rhein

The final stage completes the loop through forests, valleys, and rivers, returning to the Rhine plain. It’s a ride that celebrates the beauty of the journey, with views gradually opening up toward Neuenburg.
Back at the starting point, a well-earned lunch and celebratory toast bring this unique experience to a close—marked by sport, discovery, and friendship.
